Shimsat Nuthar is a reconstructionist religion that claims to be the national faith of the Romathi people as practiced in Ancient Kemet (Egypt) and so is sometimes called Kemetic Religion or Kemeticism. Followers believe it to be the oldest recorded religion in the world. Though it has never been monolithic in practice it has enjoyed periods of central authority characterized by high degrees of uniformity. It counts among its doctrines the earliest known monotheistic tradition.
Shimsat Nuthar is derived from the Midaw Nuthar words Shimsat meaning “Following” and Nuthar meaning “God”. Shimsat Nuthar means following God, the law he has instituted, and the path of right and truth he has ordained. By entering Shimsat Nuthar one becomes Shamsu (Feminine - Shamsah).
It is a very small but growing faith tradition experiencing revival among African Americans of Romathi descent living in America. The church advertises itself as the religion of "The Black Nation".
